Job summary

Lorien is recruiting for a Major Projects Estimator for a 3‑month contract based in North Tyneside, onsite.

The role involves preparing cost estimates, pricing bills of quantities, and supporting tender governance for highways and civil engineering projects, with NEC contract awareness and value engineering collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, cost plans and commercial proposals for major highways and civil engineering projects
• Developing fully priced Bills of Quantities and/or activity schedules
• Supporting governance and approval processes, including commercial and risk inputs
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and data to produce accurate take‑offs and cost models
• Engaging with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing for labour, plant, materials and services
• Evaluating tender returns and comparing commercial submissions
• Supporting value engineering activity in collaboration with project and delivery teams
• Assisting with pricing of variations and compensation events in line with NEC contracts
• Managing workload effectively to meet bid and pre‑construction deadlines
