Major & Complex Loss Technical Claims Adjuster (Desk-Based)

100% Remote Working

We are seeking an experienced Major & Complex Loss Technical Desk-Based Claims Adjuster to handle high-value, complex claims, including escape of oil and other major losses. This is a busy role with broad responsibilities, requiring technical expertise, strong judgment, and excellent client management skills from the comfort of your own home.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle claims in line with company requirements and the demanding service standards of MCL clients.
  • Ensure key performance indicator targets are achieved and maintained.
  • Actively progress and control all cases.
  • Understand and implement Company and client-specific procedures effectively.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and produce high-quality reports.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, brokers, and policyholders.
What a Typical Day Looks Like:
  • Apply detailed knowledge of domestic and commercial claims, processes, and policy terms.
  • Diagnose building defects accurately and identify appropriate remedial actions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of SME claims and contents claims handling.
  • Oversee restoration procedures following fire, flood, or similar incidents.
  • Direct investigations and apply advanced negotiation skills to achieve settlements.
  • Apply legal principles to subrogation and achieve successful recoveries.
  • Identify alternative mechanisms for settling claims and manage indemnity costs.
  • Provide in-depth expert advice to customers, clients, and other loss adjusters.
  • Conduct investigative interviews and ensure all correspondence meets service standards.
  • Accurately record information in databases and adapt to changing departmental requirements.
Knowledge and Abilities Required:
  • 10+ years’ experience within an adjusting company or insurer, including major losses.
  • Proven track record in property claims.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Dependability, persistence, and a flexible, adaptable approach.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in property claims management.
  • Experience reviewing scopes of work, identifying errors or omissions, and adding value in claims reserving and movements.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to deliver outcomes efficiently.
