Job summary

2XM Recruit are seeking a Mechanical/ Maintenance Trade Assistant to support the maintenance, repair and upkeep of equipment and machinery used within the metallurgy industry in a local Perth workshop. Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, you will help ensure equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently, including laboratory and pilot plant equipment.

This role offers hands-on training and the chance to develop practical maintenance skills in a dynamic workshop environment,

Qualifications

• Relevant local workshop experience, ideally within a maintenance, manufacturing or mining workshop environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Willingness to learn and develop your maintenance skills.
• Happy to do what’s required on any day; a role with varied days.
• Safety-focused attitude and ability to follow procedures under supervision.
• Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and construction of equipment for laboratory and pilot plant test work under supervision.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to identify and address potential issues.
• Assist with repairs and component replacements as required.
• Assist with spare parts inventory and ensure materials are available when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and work environment.
• Follow all company policies and procedures, including health, safety and environmental requirements.
