Part-time Maintenance Technician - Build to Rent Sheffield
Location: Sheffield City Centre
Salary: Circa £17,000 (pro-rata)

We're partnered with a leading operator in the Build-to-Rent (BTR) sector to recruit a proactive and skilled Maintenance Technician for a large, modern residential development in central Sheffield. This part‑time position is ideal for a hands‑on professional who takes pride in maintaining high‑quality living environments and delivering excellent resident service.
The Maintenance Technician will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day upkeep, presentation and safety of the apartment building and its communal areas. Working closely with on‑site colleagues, a block manager and external contractors, you'll ensure maintenance tasks, repairs and resident requests are completed efficiently and to a consistently high standard. The role involves both planned and reactive maintenance across a substantial residential building.
Diagnose and resolve routine maintenance issues within apartments, such as joinery, painting, decorating and appliance repairs.
Manage daily maintenance requests through a CRM system and ensure timely completion.
Maintain stock levels of tools, equipment and materials.
Ensure the building interior, exterior and all communal spaces are clean, safe and well‑presented.
Move or arrange furniture within apartments or communal areas when required.
Conduct daily checks of the building and plant rooms.
Log and action any compliance issues using the relevant H&S and PPM systems.
Carry out regular apartment checks, including flushing taps and showers.
Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits.
Liaise with external contractors, ensuring all works are completed to specification and high standards.
Assist with sourcing specialist contractors and negotiating value‑for‑money rates.
Manage work permits and ensure compliance documentation is in place before works commence.
Conduct pre‑check‑in and pre‑check‑out inspections.
Carry out minor repairs, painting and redecoration to prepare apartments for new residents and minimise void time.
Provide a warm, professional and customer‑focused service to residents and visitors.
Keep residents informed of maintenance progress and building updates.
Meet agreed service‑level targets for all maintenance tasks.
We are seeking an individual who:
Is highly organised, proactive and capable of managing their own workload.
Has strong technical and practical skills in general residential maintenance, especially joinery, painting and decorating.
Ideally has basic plumbing or electrical knowledge and a good understanding of H&S compliance (IOSH desirable).
Brings experience from residential property (PRS, BTR, PBSA) or hospitality settings.
Has a proven ability to manage PPM and compliance processes.
Demonstrates a genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
