Job description
Overview

Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) is needed to support the Estates & Maintenance team across Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role operates Monday to Friday 08:00‑16:00 and includes an emergency on‑call rota covering all Trust sites.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and medical plant and building faults.
  • Carry out day‑to‑day mechanical repairs, planned maintenance and improvements to the Trust’s facilities.
  • Install mechanical new work and oversee installation of complex plant and equipment.
  • Plan and prioritise maintenance work to ensure continuity of service and statutory compliance.
  • Deputise for Team Leaders and call approved contractors for maintenance breakdowns and repairs.
  • Participate in the emergency on‑call rota and cross‑site working as required.
Qualifications
  • Completed a 4‑year City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship.
  • Mechanical/plumbing training for electricians or electrical training for mechanical.
  • Mechanical, building and electrical maintenance experience with a demonstrable track record of competence.
  • Knowledge of NHS estates maintenance, complex fault diagnosis and risk assessment completion.
  • Full UK driving licence and basic electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan own workload, develop and work effectively in a team.
  • Medical gas authorised person, legionella responsibility, asbestos awareness (essential).
