Job summary

Asset Appointments is seeking an Electrically Biased Maintenance Technician to join a shift team, maintaining all plant and equipment and ensuring Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental, Energy and Production requirements are met.

The role involves proactive maintenance, preventative tasks and supporting engineers with equipment design changes; 12-hour shifts on a 14-day cycle with overtime and a salary of £50,000–£54,000 plus bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of ONC Level or equivalent in Engineering (time served/apprenticed).
  • Multi-skilled with an electrical bias.
  • Experience with PLC hardware maintenance and software fault finding.
  • Knowledge of frequency drives, AC & DC motors and control systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, meet deadlines, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Available for overtime as required.
  • IT literate, competent with Microsoft software.

Responsibilities

  • Support production activities to minimise equipment breakdown and optimise production efficiencies.
  • Proactively maintain plant and equipment to achieve optimum capability.
  • Undertake preventative and predictive maintenance tasks as defined and to the agreed schedule.
  • Support in the maintenance of building and plant services.
  • Assist engineers with equipment design and operation modifications.
  • Review the planned maintenance and suggest improvements to the system.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and carry out project work as required.

Job description

Electrically Biased Maintenance Technician

The Electrically Biased Maintenance Technician will work as part of an established shift team, maintaining all plant and equipment and helping to ensure Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental, Energy and Production requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support production activities to minimise equipment breakdown and optimise production efficiencies

  • Support in the maintenance of building and plant services

Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of ONC Level or equivalent in Engineering (time served/apprenticed)
  • Multi‑skilled with an electrical bias
  • Experience with PLC hardware maintenance and software fault finding
  • Knowledge of frequency drives, AC & DC motors and control systems
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment

Desirable Qualifications
  • HND/HNC advantageous but not essential
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations competence
  • Knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Experience with temperature control systems, forklifts, height access and lifting equipment, mechanical handling
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Allen Bradley), HMI devices, boilers, steam management, chillers, weight measurement equipment (load cells), extrusion and injection moulding processes
Compensation and Benefits

£50,000 to £54,000 PA (depending on experience) + Bonus + Benefits + OT + Life Assurance. 2‑shift position (12hrs) – working approximately 7 out of every 14 days. Hours 06:30‑18:30, 18:30‑06:30.
