A growing engineering and manufacturing company in Newport is seeking a Maintenance Technician for a hands-on role in maintaining high-tech production equipment. The ideal candidate will have a formal qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering and be able to perform routine checks and diagnose faults. Maintenance Technician – Days

Location: Newport
Salary: £32,500 - £44,000

We’re looking for skilled Equipment Maintenance Technicians to join a growing engineering and manufacturing team. This is a hands‑on role, on maintaining and improving high‑tech production equipment.

The business offers an excellent benefits package, including a high rate pension, private health insurance, life assurance etc.. as well as the opportunity to learn and progress (including formal qualifications/training).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned maintenance and routine checks on production equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve first‑level faults to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Strip, clean, and rebuild components as part of preventative maintenance.
  • Support improvement projects and assist engineers with equipment experiments.
  • Follow documented procedures for maintenance and operational checks.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet performance targets.

Experience/skills:

  • Formal qualification in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (C&G, NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures and complete structured reports.
  • Familiarity with modern maintenance/manufacturing principles (i.e. PPM/TPM etc.)
  • Comfortable working to strict processes
  • Experience with pneumatics or vacuum systems is a plus, but not essential.
  • Backgrounds such as automotive, armed forces, or general engineering welcome.
