Job summary

A major automotive company in Pontypool is looking for a Maintenance Technician to manage CNC machinery maintenance. You will respond to breakdowns, perform preventative and reactive maintenance, and support factory improvement projects. Ideal candidates have a relevant apprenticeship and skills in both electrical and mechanical fields. This role requires shift work across day and night rotations.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in electrical/mechanical/mechatronics required.
• Ideally electrically biased with ability in both fields.
• Experience with robotics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns with extensive fault finding.
• Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance on CNC machines.
• Support maintenance and improvement projects.

About the Team

At our Pontypool Site in South Wales you will be working within a team of multi-skilled maintenance technicians to maximise machine uptime while minimising unplanned downtime. The department work on all areas of maintenance for the plant equipment and site and involves preventative and reactive maintenance on CNC machines, assembly processes, robotics. The job role is for a 3 shift worker which rotates weekly between mornings 6-2pm, Afternoons 2 – 1pm and nights 10 – 6am.

What you can look forward to as Maintenance Technician:

• Responding to Breakdowns with Extensive fault finding (both electrical and mechanical)
• Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance of CNC machinery and various assembly equipment
• Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance of our CNC machinery and assembly equipment
• To support maintenance and factory-based improvement projects
• The completion of service reports and internal systems via our CMMS system

Your Profile as Maintenance Technician

• Time served apprenticeship in a relevant discipline (electrical/mechanical/mechatronics), ideally trained to a HNC qualification
• Ideally electrically biased but with a proven ability to work in both fields
• IT skills are required: MS office, email etc. CMMS experience is preferred, especially in SAP
• PLC experience is advantageous
• Robotics experience is an advantage, ideally in ABB/Staubli robotics.
• Ability to embrace personal challenges and work within a team environment based on openness, mutual respect and collaborative working
