Qualifications

Maintenance Technician – Heavy Engineering – West Yorkshire

The Role

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a vital role in keeping critical assets in top condition. Your work will cover the full spectrum of mechanical and electrical maintenance on heavy-duty machinery, specialist vehicles, and associated systems.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Performing planned inspections, servicing, and overhauls on large mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on braking, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.
  • Replacing and installing components such as motors, actuators, switchgear, and control panels.
  • Following technical documentation and schematics to complete maintenance to a high standard.
  • Completing condition checks, ensuring all work meets safety, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records and working collaboratively within a skilled engineering team.

This role operates on a 4 on 4 off pattern working 12 hours shifts, with regular overtime available.

About You

This is a great opportunity for individuals with experience in heavy engineering or vehicle environments, such as HGVs, plant machinery, aerospace, industrial maintenance, or comparable sectors.

You will need:
  • Qualification in either mechanical or electrical engineering (Degree, C&G, HND or HNC qualifications).
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Proven experience maintaining or overhauling heavy equipment or vehicles.
  • A reliable, safety-focused mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and support operational requirements.
  • All candidates must complete pre-employment checks, including a medical assessment, drug & alcohol screening, and DBS.
