Maintenance Technician

Based in Kirkby

Salary: £50,000 including shift allowance

Shifts: Continental working 12‑hour shifts: 4 days on, 4 off, 4 days on, 4 off (6am‑6pm); 4 nights on, 4 off, 4 nights on, 4 off (6pm‑6am)

The role

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll help keep our plant equipment running efficiently through planned maintenance, repairs, and problem‑solving. You’ll minimise downtime, support installations, and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on machinery and facilities
  • Respond to breakdowns and carry out repairs or replacements
  • Support installation, relocation, and upgrades of equipment
  • Keep accurate maintenance and downtime records
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and uphold 5S practices
  • Collaborate with teams to minimise operational disruption
Skills & experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
  • Good communication and time management
  • Relevant vocational qualification (NVQ, ONC, C&G) and apprenticeship
  • At least 1 year’s maintenance experience (3+ years desirable)
  • Bonus skills: Forklift or IPAF license
