Who We Are

The role

This is an integral role in our operations in which daily setting activities are controlled so that service to production is maintained with tool changes and first offs in line with ‘On Time in Full’ (OTIF) principles. The role will work as part of a broader team of operational colleagues to methodically solve problems that arise during and after tool changes, focusing on machine uptime and high-quality standards.

As a Maintenance Technician at IPL you will
  • Carry out maintenance activities on site machinery through effective planned maintenance routines alongside reactive responses to unplanned breakdowns.
  • Identify and rectify equipment faults efficiently while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others at all times, be proactive in raising potential health and safety issues and develop safety awareness.
  • Support continuous improvement by monitoring equipment performance, efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Carry out routine equipment installations and support the implementation of new projects.
  • Accurately log all work completed, maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities.
  • Work alongside stakeholder departments to ensure that skills and knowledge are transferred across Operations to increase machine availability and drive improvements.
  • Support training and development of junior colleagues and production operators, ensuring knowledge transfer on equipment and basic maintenance.
  • Ensure clear shift handovers by effectively communicating key updates and actions.
Person Specification
  • Achieved a minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in an engineering discipline, ideally HNC.
  • Proven experience within a maintenance engineering role from a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to understand and amend engineering drawings and diagrams.
  • A working knowledge of variable speed drives, inverters and PLCs.
  • Experience of utilising a CMMS TPM system.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on your own initiative in a fast‑paced, challenging environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact comfortably with all levels of the organisation.
