Job summary

Tesco UK is seeking a Maintenance Technician across our stores to carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of systems and equipment, ensuring stores remain safe, functional and welcoming for customers and colleagues. You’ll work as part of a skilled team, interacting with external contractors and supporting a culture of quality and reliability.

This hands-on role requires a proactive mindset, good problem-solving and strong safety awareness, with training and career development

Qualifications

• Health and safety awareness applicable to maintenance tasks.

• Current full driving license is required.
• Completed technical training/upskilling modules relevant to abilities.

As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Southampton, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You'll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.

Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You'll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.

As a Maintenance Technician your specific responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks. To thrive in this role, you will need to:

Responsibilities will include;

• Ensuring all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
• Following the planned work schedule to achieve first time fix, improving efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Working closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
• General day to day store and property maintenance.
• Using mobile devices; phone and tablet, to drive the best approach in work completion and updates.
• Representing the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values (serving our customers, communities and planet a little better every day), maintaining a positive attitude & taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
• Attending local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
• Supporting a diverse and inclusive culture.

As a vital part of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. With previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or construction environment, you will be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.
