Maintenance Technician - Smoke Detection Systems (Rail Depot)

Location: Crawley

Rate: £18.86 PAYE (includes 15% shift allowance)

Contract: 12-month fixed term | Start: ASAP

Shifts: Alternating weekly - Days (7am-7pm) / Nights (7pm-7am)

(Note: You won't be working full 12‑hour shifts each day)

About the Role

We're looking for a hands‑on Maintenance Technician to join our leading rolling stock client's team at a busy rail depot, supporting essential maintenance of smoke detection systems across rolling stock assets.

In this role, you'll be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the air pipe network that forms part of the smoke detection system – a key part of ensuring the safety and reliability of the fleet.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Setting up and securing cleaning rigs to train pipework
  • Using compressed air systems to clean dust and debris from smoke detection pipes
  • Taking and recording air tolerance readings after cleaning
  • Working safely and efficiently within an active rail depot environment
