Role

Our Maintenance Technician is a part of a dedicated team that offers the residents of our purpose built care home support with building inspections, building maintenance, porterage and transport services. Each Care Home has its own dedicated technician who then work as part of our Maintenance team, ensuring the highest standard of working when undertaking minor repairs and maintenance of the Home, ensuring the highest standard of works including:

  • General building works
  • Plumbing
  • Painting and decorating
  • Minor Grounds Maintenance (including snow clearance)
  • Cleaning and portering as requested
  • Liaison with and monitoring external contractors
  • Ordering materials as and when required (after consultation with the Home Manager)
  • Ensure effective maintenance and servicing of the Homes machinery and equipment
  • Carrying out driving duties as and when required
  • To cover Swimming Pool Maintenance duties in the Leisure Centre at the Retirement Village in staff absence.
  • Ensuring the Boiler Room, Plant Room and workshop is kept clean and maintained to a high standard.
  • To carry out regular statutory inspections around the Home and complete all relevant inspection documentation.
  • To liaise with and regularly monitor servicing and maintenance contractors around the Home.
  • Ensure completion and compliance of the necessary ‘Hot work permit’ documentation for external contractors.
  • To attend regular meetings with the Home Manager/Estates Director to discuss all maintenance issues.
Requirements

The successful candidate must have a clean full UK driving licence and at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role. Previous experience in moving and positioning, first aid, site Safety Awareness and Lifting and handling is desirable however training will be provided as part of the role requirements. We require our staff to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. All posts are subject to a clear enhanced criminal record check and satisfactory references. Although it is no longer a legal requirement for staff working within CQC regulated Care Homes for Older Adult Care in England to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated, in the best interests of our staff and residents, we have decided to keep it a mandatory requirement to work for our organisation. Therefore, we will need proof of your COVID Vaccination pass. You must have current valid right to work in the UK. This role does not meet the requirements of Sponsorship.
