A leading aerospace company in Benfieldside is looking for a hands-on individual to support production processes, ensure quality standards, and lead a team effectively. The ideal candidate should have a relevant engineering qualification and demonstrate excellent problem-solving and communication skills. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe and productive work environment, coaching team members, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Being ‘hands‑on’, supporting production in the efficient running of the plant equipment, being the first point of contact and helping with communication throughout the production process to ensure that quality goods are delivered to our customers on time. To ensure that any significant concerns are escalated to the Maintenance Manager.
As a minimum it is expected that the individual will demonstrate:
Problem Solver – The individual must tackle problems and find solutions quickly and efficiently, using their experience within the business. Besides unearthing problems or potential problems, these individuals must have the ability to explain the issue to others, remain positive at all times and provide reassurance where necessary to enable the continued and safe running of the business. The individual must bring ideas to the table and facilitate a positive and open environment where others can contribute their suggestions. Must have proven and be able to demonstrate practical application of theoretical concepts.
Makes Decisions – In the absence of a Team Leader/Senior Team Leader and where necessary the individual must be able to make decisions and lead the team through the decision‑making process. Once decisions are made, follow through and support key deadlines in the process.
Communicates Well – Potential candidates for this grade/level should be good communicators. Leaders are an important link in the communication chain and the technician grade provides opportunity for individual to take that next step in their career. Inter‑departmental communication is crucial and those individuals must possess the skills to drive forward results with their team, in the best possible way. Beyond promoting communication internally, these individuals must be able to share the company’s vision with customers and suppliers. Candidates for promotion should be persuasive but willing to listen when others have good ideas.
Organises Tasks – Wherever necessary and in the absence of a Team Leader/Senior Team Leader it may be necessary for the individual to organise the department, people and projects, facilitate meetings and oversee everyday tasks. Criteria for this grade/level should include good administration skills.
Motivates Others – Leaders need to be able to motivate their teams. The individual should have sincere concern for the health and wellness of all employees. These key positions should be filled by people who know how to show their appreciation and recognition to other employees regularly. A high level of enthusiasm, the ability to think positively, and vision‑casting are also key criteria that should be considered.
An annual appraisal will be held to ensure the employee and their Line Manager is happy with their performance, progress and development. Further reviews may also be held to discuss any ongoing training needs of the employee.
Review Process – All appointed individuals will be reviewed on an annual basis and in line with the criteria outlined above. Should the duties and/or responsibilities change over this period we have a process in place make any necessary changes. Appointing and removing – In appointing an individual to this grade/level and subject to the review process outlined above, the appointment and removal of the extra payment is at the discretion of management.
