Job summary

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a Maintenance Shift Technician to join the in-house team. The role covers mechanical and electrical plant across the Trust, with a 2 on-3 off-2 on rotating days/nights pattern totaling 37.5 hours per week.

You will perform unsupervised maintenance, test and fault-find on hospital systems, issue permits to work, and supervise contractors out of hours to ensure continuity of clinical services.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical plant systems.
• Ability to fault-find and diagnose faults on hospital equipment.
• Experience with planned and reactive maintenance in a complex facility.

Responsibilities

• Test and fault-find on hospital engineering plant and equipment.
• Act as Competent & Appointed Person for boiler and plant safety.
• Issue permits to work for directly employed staff and contractors.
• Supervise contractors on site during out-of-hours periods.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain clinical service delivery with first-time fixes where possible.

Maintenance Shift Technician - mechanical /electrical (Please note: previous applicants need not apply)
We are seeking a team member to work as part of an inhouse maintenance shift team to provide a total planned and reactive maintenance service. You would be responsible for giving a Trust wide service in accordance with the duties and responsibilities given below.
2 on-3 off-2 on rotating shift pattern days/nights 37.5 hrs based on a 4-week period
You would be performing unsupervised work including activities that may be demanding and / or non-routine.
Responsibilities for testing and fault finding on all engineering plant and equipment throughout the hospital and out of hours , unsupervised.
To act as the 'Competent & Appointed Person' for the Trust in safe operation and maintenance of boiler and other plant and systems.
Work under own initiative to undertake maintenance and repairs as directed, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.
At all times to carry Trust communication devices (pager / two-way radios / mobile phone) to facilitate immediate response to emergency situations.
To provide a first line of response to maintain the delivery of clinical services and undertake 'first time fix' or instigate temporary measures to ensure clinical capacity is not disrupted where possible.
Respond to urgent situations such as lift entrapment and fire alarm calls etc.
To issue permits to work for directly employed staff and contractors.
To supervise contractors on site out of normal working hours.
