Job summary

Royal British Legion is seeking a practical Maintenance Assistant to keep our care home and community spaces safe, welcoming and well maintained. You will carry out everyday repairs, safety checks and help prepare spaces for activities, supporting with outdoor areas while working around residents and staff.

On a 6-day rota (Mon-Sat) with shifts 8:00am–5:30pm, this 22-hours-per-week role offers £13.41 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance tasks such as basic carpentry, plumbing, decorating or repairs to fixtures and fittings.
• Understanding the importance of health and safety and keeping accurate records of checks.
• Able to work closely with colleagues and contractors to maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out everyday repairs and routine safety checks.
• Help prepare spaces for activities and support upkeep of outdoor areas.
• Move equipment, assist with room refurbishments and ensure supplies are delivered where needed.
• Be approachable and mindful of residents and staff, maintaining privacy and wellbeing.
