Job summary
Mears Group is seeking a diligent General Operative in Wakefield to join our Repairs and Maintenance team. You will perform hands-on maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs within occupied and void properties, often solo, while delivering strong customer service.
The role requires practical DIY ability, reliable timekeeping, and a willingness to travel across the region. You will work a 42.5-hour week, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, contributing to high standards of
Qualifications
- Basic DIY skills including ability to re plumb a washing machine, putting up blinds, refixing door handles and siliconing a bath
- Customer service experience
- IT literate
- Good communication and customer service skills where required
- Ability to provide own hand tools including spirit level, screw drivers and hammers
- Full UK driving license
- Reliable
- Excellent time keeping
- Can do attitude
- Happy to travel across the region
Responsibilities
- Carry out property inspections and a wide range of general maintenance and repair tasks
- Change light bulbs and fittings as needed
- Fit and adjust blinds and silicone where required
- Check and test smoke alarms during inspections
- Work independently within a structured checklist to meet standards
