Maintenance Operator
Salary: Up to £35,000

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Operator. This is a hands‑on role responsible for the day‑to‑day maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the building, its communal areas and amenity spaces, ensuring residents enjoy a safe, well‑presented, and fully functioning living environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive and planned preventative maintenance across the building, including communal areas, plant rooms, and amenity spaces
- Complete minor repairs (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, decorating) to a high standard, escalating specialist works to approved contractors where required
- Conduct regular site inspections and log findings, maintaining accurate maintenance records
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests logged by residents or the on‑site team
- Support health and safety compliance, including fire safety checks, PAT testing coordination, and risk assessments
- Manage stock levels of maintenance tools, materials, and equipment
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers, supervising works carried out on site
- Support void unit turnaround, ensuring units are maintenance‑ready ahead of new move‑ins
- Assist with out‑of‑hours emergency call‑outs as required (if applicable)
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a maintenance, handyman, or building services role, ideally within residential, BTR, PBSA, or hospitality environments
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices on site
- Relevant trade qualifications advantageous (e.g. NVQ in a building trade) but not essential
- Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused approach, given regular interaction with residents
- Well organised, able to manage a varied daily workload independently
- Full UK driving licence may be required depending on site coverage
