Job summary

CareTech in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Maintenance Operative for a permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week). You will carry out general maintenance tasks, internal and external painting, assist with cleaning and grounds work, and help operate heating and hot water plant.

You will ensure safe use of equipment, support health and safety, deal with emergencies, and report defects to the site maintenance manager.

Qualifications

• The Maintenance Operative will have Building and Maintenance knowledge.
• Experience with compliance and record keeping.
• A trade background preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks as instructed.
• Carry out internal and external paint and decorating.
• Assist with cleaning or grounds tasks as instructed.
• Assist in operating and maintaining heating and hot water plant.
• Assist in maintaining the outside fabric of the building.
• Ensure the safe use and storage of all equipment and materials.
• Take reasonable care for health and safety of yourself and others, contributing to a safe environment for students/staff/residents.
• Assist in dealing with emergencies.
• Maximise the security of the premises.
• Carry out additional duties compatible with the job description as deemed appropriate by the employer.
• Identify defects and report to the site maintenance manager promptly.
