Job summary

Sanctuary Group is looking for a Maintenance Operative to join Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home in Wolverhampton. This role involves hands-on maintenance, including plumbing and repairs, while ensuring health and safety standards are maintained.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular health and safety checks.

  • Coordinate contractor visits and maintain quality standards.
  • Provide backup support at other homes as required.

Maintenance Operative – Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home

Location: Wolverhampton, West Midlands, WV10 8BU.

Salary: £14.00 per hour.

Hours: 39 hours per week (3 month temporary position).

Responsibilities
  • Access practical training to build confidence in key tasks – including plumbing essentials and repair best practices.
  • Benefit from development opportunities shaped by Maintenance Operative feedback.
  • Carry out regular health and safety checks to keep everyone safe.
  • Complete minor repairs and maintain the home and garden to a high standard.
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families, colleagues and contractors.
  • Coordinate contractor visits and ensure work meets quality standards.
  • Provide cover at other homes when needed.
  • Practical experience in minor repairs, basic plumbing and DIY.
  • Understanding of health and safety protocols (Legionella awareness desirable).
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively.
Qualifications
  • Valid driving licence and access to transport.
  • Confidence using an iPad or laptop for compliance tasks.
