Job summary

Rhenus Group is seeking a proactive maintenance electrician to join our facilities team in the UK. You will assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring and equipment across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with BS 7671:2018.

The role includes diagnosing faults, servicing access control systems and installing IT cabling (CAT5e/CAT6). You will work Monday to Friday, 08:30–16:30, 37.5 hours per week, using hand and power tools, ladders and MEWP access.

Qualifications

• Assemble, install and test electrical wiring, complying with IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS 7671:2018.
• Diagnose faults in electrical systems using test equipment to locate and repair issues.
• Inspect systems and equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Advise management on potential hazards of continued operation of equipment.
• Test circuits and continuity to ensure system safety and compatibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan layout and installation of wiring and fixtures based on job specs and site conditions.
• Install and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors and control panels.
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Work from ladders and MEWPs to install and service equipment and fixtures.
• Install IT infrastructure by patching CAT5e and CAT6 cables from server cabinets to designated points.
• Install and diagnose faults on access control systems across all sites.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine checks on equipment and buildings.

Job description

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 16:30 (37.5 hours a week)

Electrical Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools in accordance with IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS 7671:2018.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as insulation resistance tester and voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local situations
• Install and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors and control panels.
  Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Work from ladders & MEWP’s to install, maintain or repair & install equipment, and fixtures.
• Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
• Install IT infrastructure by installing and patching CAT5e and CAT6 cables from server cabinets to each designated point.
• Install and diagnose faults on access control systems across all sites

Non-Electrical Responsibilities

• Performing preventative maintenance,
• Carrying out routine maintenance work and respond to equipment faults,
• Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them,
• Fitting new parts and making sure that equipment is working correctly,
• Carrying out quality inspections on jobs,
• Liaising with managers, contractors and colleagues,
• Involved in procurement of equipment, fittings or components,
• Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment,
• Dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs,
• Completing safety checks on buildings, systems and equipment,
• Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary,
• Maintaining records of any work and inspections done on-premises,
• Performing inventory on repair supplies,
• Maintaining warehouse and office lights, doors ensuring functionality,
• Making and installing new furniture and equipment,
• Ensuring all safety systems are functioning properly, including fire alarms and fire doors,
• Performing a functional weekly test on the fire pumps, sprinkler systems and alarm systems,
• Maintaining heating systems across all four sites,
• Performing general maintenance tasks for the buildings, such as drywall repair, plastering, carpentry, flooring repair, painting and decorating,
• Detecting, identifying and repairing building issues, like basic problems with the building's electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems,
• Delivering and picking up materials as needed,
• Loading/unloading lorries and moving heavy equipment with a gas/electrical counterbalance lift
