Location: HMP Altcourse, Liverpool
Salary: 29,489.35
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled and reliable Maintenance Operative to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Altcourse. You'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-functioning environment for staff and residents alike.

In this hands‑on role, you'll carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring the prison site and its facilities remain in excellent working order.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake general maintenance, repairs, and minor installation work across the site.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with schedules.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance requests or emergencies.
  • Ensure all work meets relevant health, safety, and security standards.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and prison staff to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
What We're Looking For:
  • Proven experience in general maintenance, building services, or a trade (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or mechanical).
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Security clearance (or ability to obtain it).
  • High level of interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, systematic approach to tasks.
  • Maximo CAFM experience desirable.
  • Ability to work to correct time schedules and deadlines.
  • Team Player.
