Job summary

Wirral housing association seeks a Maintenance Operative to join their repairs and maintenance team on a permanent basis. The role covers maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, construction, driving and deliveries across residential properties.

Salary £30,338 per annum, 37 hours per week, full UK driving licence required. You will plan your workload, work with residents and colleagues, and complete tickets and records with a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs, maintenance, refurbishment and construction activities across a range of trade disciplines.
• Drive company vehicles safely and professionally to attend jobs and carry out deliveries.
• Undertake delivery and collection duties as required.
• Plan and organise daily workload to complete work within timescales.
• Attend scheduled appointments and provide a professional, customer-focused service.
• Carry out inspections and pre-measuring work to identify repair requirements.
• Use mobile technology and IT systems to receive instructions, update jobs, order materials and complete records.
• Manage materials effectively and minimise waste.
• Work with other trades, surveyors and subcontractors to ensure timely completion.
• Communicate professionally with residents and customers regarding repairs and follow-up work.
• Complete job tickets, timesheets, inspection reports and other documentation accurately.
• Use tools, plant and equipment relevant to the role.
• Work in accordance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Undertake low-risk asbestos-related work where required, following training and procedures.
• Attend team briefings, meetings and training as required.

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading housing association for an experienced Maintenance Operative to join their repairs and maintenance team on a permanent basis.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining property maintenance, minor repairs, refurbishment, construction, driving and delivery duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing high-quality work while providing an excellent service to residents and customers.

The Role

As a Maintenance Operative, you will carry out a range of maintenance, repair, refurbishment and delivery activities across residential properties and other locations.

About You

We are looking for a reliable, practical and customer-focused Maintenance Operative who is comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in property maintenance, construction, repairs or social housing.
• Experience undertaking multi-skilled maintenance or trade-related work.
• Experience of driving and carrying out deliveries in a commercial environment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Good attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
• A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to manage your own workload and work on your own initiative.
• The ability to complete paperwork, job tickets and timesheets accurately.
• The ability to meet agreed targets and deadlines.
• The physical ability to undertake the requirements of the role.

Essential Requirements

You must:

• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Be confident and able to drive company vehicles as part of the role.
• Have previous experience within maintenance, construction, repairs or a related trade environment.
• Be willing to work across different locations as required.
• Have a strong commitment to Health & Safety and customer service.

Qualifications

Relevant qualification or experience in a multi-skilled trade is desirable.

CSCS card is desirable.
