Job description

About the role...

Do you enjoy working in a varied role? Do you take pride in resolving issues quickly and efficiently?

We are looking for a practical, reliable and hands-on Maintenance Officer to support the day-to-day upkeep of our Midlands sites (primarily based in our Castle Donington office).

This is a part-time role (22.5 hours per week across 3 days), providing a good balance of regular site presence and flexibility. There will be some flexibility required around working arrangements depending on business requirements.

You’ll work very closely with the Midlands Facilities Team Lead and the wider Facilities function in the region, as well as with external specialists/contractors as required.

This is a varied role, covering general maintenance, minor repairs, planned maintenance and responding to day-to-day facilities requests. You will be responsible for keeping our buildings, facilities and external areas safe, presentable and well maintained.

About the team…

Our brand is a big deal to us, and our offices play a huge part in what makes us who we are. They have been crafted and built to promote diverse working. Helping to put people at ease, drive motivation and engagement whilst having a funky edge.

Our Facilities team are vital to the upkeep, running and general day to day that ensure our offices keep ticking to the high standard that our CPer’s and clients expect.

About the day to day…

As a Maintenance Officer, no 2 days will look the same. You’ll be getting stuck in with a wide range of tasks including:

  • General maintenance and minor repairs - including doors, locks, tiles, carpet tiles and other building fixtures.
  • Painting, decorating and touch-up work as required.
  • Basic repairs and maintenance, including changing bulbs, replacing fuses and other straightforward fixes.
  • Responding to and resolving maintenance requests and reactive issues across the Midlands sites.
  • Supporting with the upkeep of external areas, including car parks, bins, patios, plants and general outdoor areas.
  • Window cleaning and maintenance of hard-to-reach areas where appropriate.
  • Supporting with basic PAT testing and generator checks.
  • Completing planned maintenance tasks and routine checks to help ensure our sites remain safe and operational.
  • Identifying maintenance issues and elevate more complex or specialist works where required.
  • Liaising with contractors and support the Midlands Facilities Team Lead with coordinating external maintenance works.
  • Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Keeping appropriate records of maintenance activities and report any recurring or significant issues.
  • Supporting with other facilities and maintenance tasks as required.

A simple notion, but an irreplaceable part of what makes CP, CP.

In addition to those core values, as a Maintenance Officer we are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, building services or similar hands-on role.
  • Is practical and confident carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
  • Can work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Has good problem-solving skills and a 'fix it' attitude.
  • Is reliable, organised and responsive to maintenance requests.
  • Has good attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining a high standard across our sites.
  • Understands the importance of health and safety when carrying out maintenance work.
  • Is comfortable working with contractors and escalating work when specialist support is required.
  • Has good communication skills and can build positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Is flexible and willing to support the wider Facilities team when required.

It would also be helpful (but not essential) to have:

  • Relevant maintenance, building services or trade qualification.
  • Experience of working across multiple sites.
  • PAT testing experience.
  • Experience carrying out basic compliance or facilities checks.
  • Experience working within an office, commercial or corporate environment.
