We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Vale of Glamorgan to assist with the appointment of a Maintenance Officer, on a 5.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. The Maintenance Officer will carry out painting and decorating maintenance tasks across council properties, ensuring high standards of workmanship and compliance with health and safety regulations. The post holder will work as part of a professional team, adapting to different tasks as required, and interacting professionally with the public and colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake internal and external painting and decorating tasks across various council buildings.
  • Prepare surfaces using appropriate materials and techniques including sanding, filling, priming, and undercoating.
  • Apply various types of paint, stains, and finishes using rollers, brushes, and spray equipment.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete jobs to deadline and agreed standards.
  • Carry out touch-up work, wallpapering, and minor repair duties as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Level 2 qualification in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a public sector or multi-site environment.
  • Full valid UK driving licence.
  • Ability to carry out a variety of painting tasks to a professional standard.
  • Willingness to diversify and assist with general maintenance as required.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety practices relevant to the trade.
