Job description

Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of snack foods, has an immediate need for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic, to join our winning team in Reading.

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for the upkeep of buildings, equipment, and mechanical systems. You must have a strong mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail and be able to promptly troubleshoot to perform emergency repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair vacuum conveying system, scale systems, mixing/extrusion equipment, gas fired ovens, vertical form fill and sealing equipment, carton sealing and labeling machinery, pallet wrapping equipment, conveyor belt systems,
• Maintain building-powered equipment and automation of two production lines.
• Utilize a CMMS to open new work orders, check work history, track inventory, and preventative maintenance.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Reading, interpreting, and following instructions and operation manuals.
• Operating a variety of hand and power tools.
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Performing general maintenance work on buildings.
• Complying with health and safety regulations related to working in a food manufacturing facility.

Key Requirements

• Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety Standards.
• Follow all HACCP & FSMA Product handling process including prerequisite programs such as allergen management, good manufacturing practices, sanitation, and others.
• Report all observed deviations to QA Manager/ Supervisor.
• Reports personnel or product safety concerns to supervisor or management and takes action as necessary to protect people and or product.
