Job summary

SER Limited in Preston seeks a Maintenance Mate to perform weekly reactive maintenance and PPM tasks across NHS Trust buildings in the Northwest. The role involves routine inspections, minor repairs, and collaborating with a team to ensure facilities meet safety standards.

You will record data on a PDA/smart phone, support Legionella, asbestos and fire safety compliance, and handle general maintenance duties while progressing with a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance and health sector projects.
• Must have Full UK Driving Licence.
• DBS checks desirable.
• Willingness to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Carry out weekly reactive maintenance and PPM work in NHS Trust Buildings.
• Perform general repairs and assist with site improvements.
• Record task sheets and times via PDA/Smart Phone.
• Support compliance with Legionella, Asbestos and Fire Safety.
• Conduct health and safety checks including fire alarm tests.
• Work with other operatives to complete tasks.
• Maintain records of water temperatures and inspections.

Position - Maintenance Mate

Location - Preston

Salary/Package - £26,437 - Starting Salary, Van/Fuel Card, PPE & Tools, 24 days holiday excluding banks, Pension.

Working Hours - Mon - Friday - 7:30am - 4pm, Overtime available - Double time/all the time!! Call out - 1 in 4 (Retainer - £145 a week)

Client

My client specialises in all types of Health Sector projects, ranging from full ward refurbishments, change of use, general facilities and building maintenance.

Purpose Of the Role

To carry out weekly reactive maintenance and PPM work in NHS Trust Buildings, throughout the Northwest

Key Duties

• Undertake general PPM checks including, Fire alarm tests, Flushing water outlets, as well as visual/operational inspection to mechanical equipment such as heating appliance, sump pumps, door access controls etc, and record water temperatures.
• Receive instructions from the supervisor and carry out repairs small to medium repairs.
• Work in partnership with other operatives to complete works.
• Record and complete task sheets, time sheets, PPMS check sheets all via PDA/Smart Phone
• Supporting the Facilities Management Team in meeting compliance and legislative requirements, including Legionella, Asbestos and Fire Safety.
• Carrying out routine health and safety checks, including fire alarm testing, Legionella flushing, emergency lighting checks and site safety/security inspections.
• Undertaking planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections of buildings, fixtures, fittings, utility meters and grounds.
• Carrying out general repairs, maintenance, improvement works and inspections to ensure sites are maintained to a good standard.

You must have or hold

• Full UK Driving Licence
• DBS Checked (Need not apply if unable to pass)
• Experience in carpentry, basic plumbing, plastering, and tilling, PPM checks (Desirable)
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations. (Desirable)
• Hold relevant training such as Working from Heights, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, Legionella Awareness (Desirable)

We are looking for a conscientious, reliable person capable of working on their own and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment. Progression through the company is possible, with in-depth experience of the role being an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided where required.
