Job description

Hands-on Maintenance Manager for a St Helens manufacturer. Lead a team of 4, drive TPM / PPM & uptime. £55–60k + benefits. HNC / HND or apprenticeship.

We’re hiring a Maintenance Manager (also suited to an Engineering Maintenance Manager / Maintenance or Engineering Supervisor / Lead Maintenance Engineer ) to lead a small team and stay hands‑on in our manufacturing site in St Helens.

What you’ll do
  • Own TPM / PPM plans, CMMS data, and downtime / OEE improvement.
  • Lead & coach 2–6 engineers / techs; set standards and safe systems of work.
  • Diagnose / repair across pumps, motors, drives, pneumatics / hydraulics , conveyors; PLC fault‑finding .
  • Ensure compliance : LOLER / PUWER / COSHH , permits, audits.
  • Deliver capex, installations and commissioning with suppliers.
  • Partner with Production to keep lines running and hit schedules.
What you bring
  • 5+ years engineering in a manufacturing / process plant.
  • Proven hands‑on leader of a small maintenance team.
  • Training / quals : Apprenticeship / Time-served, NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3+, ONC / OND, HNC / HND (degree not required).
  • Working knowledge of TPM / PPM / CMMS and RCA / 5-Why / FMEA .
  • Safety‑first mindset; strong communication and planning.
