Overview
We are hiring on behalf of our client, who is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Manager to lead a small team of 4 shift-based mechanical and electrical engineers, with potential control system support, to ensure reliability, compliance, and operational excellence. This is primarily a days-based role (Monday to Friday) with occasional weekend cover (approximately 1 in 8 weekends). You will play a pivotal role in supporting operational performance, managing the maintenance budget, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and motivate the engineering team, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and guidance to deliver efficiently.
- Provide hands-on support to enhance safety, reliability, and production throughput.
- Manage maintenance activities, ensuring decisions are made with a full value-stream perspective.
- Oversee both internal team members and engineering contractors, ensuring quality, environmental, and health and safety standards are maintained.
- Deliver maintenance plans on time and within budget, in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Lead both proactive and reactive maintenance activities, including compliance actions, asset condition monitoring, and preventative maintenance routines.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure correct maintenance routines and schedules are in place.
- Deputise for the Engineering Leader as required, maintaining high personal health and safety standards.
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
- Proven experience leading, motivating, and engaging engineering or maintenance teams (a must-have).
- Vocational qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- NEBOSH or IOSH safety certification.
- Strong working knowledge of British Standards for engineering plant, equipment, and practices.
- Extensive experience in industrial mechanical plant within complex manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record in delivering maintenance improvement programmes and reliability-focused initiatives.
- Ability to manage complex and competing requirements effectively.
- High credibility and strong communication skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
