A leading engineering company in Biggleswade is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead a team of skilled engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in the food manufacturing sector, strong leadership abilities, and relevant engineering qualifications. You will oversee all maintenance activities to ensure equipment efficiency and safety, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance or Engineering Manager within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Electrically or mechanically biased with relevant engineering qualifications.

The Role

Are you a hands-on Maintenance Manager ready to lead a team of skilled engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We're looking for an experienced and motivated individual to take ownership of all site maintenance activities, ensuring our equipment runs efficiently, safely, and reliably every day.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers
  • Plan, schedule and oversee PPM activities to ensure all assets are maintained to a high standard
  • Manage and prioritise day-to-day engineering support for production lines
  • Collaborate with Operations and Production teams to minimise downtime and improve line efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance reliability, efficiency and safety
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and site quality standards
  • Control maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory and contractor performance
  • Support CAPEX projects and equipment installations
You
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance or Engineering Manager within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Strong knowledge of PPM systems, fault finding, and continuous improvement (Lean, 5S, TPM, etc.)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Electrically or mechanically biased with relevant engineering qualifications (HNC/HND or equivalent)
  • Confident using CMMS systems and data to drive performance
