Qualifications

  • Proven in-depth experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to govern maintenance teams and deliver effective maintenance.

  • Own asset replacement change controls and liaise on major projects.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Apply Lean/ TPM to optimise maintenance strategy.
  • Maintain audit readiness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Plan 2–5 year asset management initiatives aligned to LROP.
  • Lead multifunctional teams for problem solving and investigations.

Introduction To Role

This role keeps our buildings, utilities and critical equipment safe, compliant and performing at their best—so life‑changing medicines can reach patients faster and more reliably.

Join a team that treats maintenance as a strategic lever. Your leadership will connect day‑to‑day engineering excellence with long‑term asset strategy, optimising cost, risk and performance.

Accountabilities
  • Asset Lifecycle Governance: Oversee the safe, effective and optimised delivery of Asset Life Cycle Management across buildings, grounds, equipment, plant and utilities, using both internal resources and external partners.
  • Maintenance Strategy and Delivery: Ensure the continued safety, compliant planning and delivery of Engineering Maintenance activities across your assigned area.
  • Work closely with Duty Holders and Responsible Engineers to ensure compliance with SHE and GMP regulations. Confirm the competence and performance of external resources. Report risks and non‑compliance promptly for timely resolution.
  • Financial Stewardship: Support compilation, control and optimisation of operating costs and associated programs for your area of responsibility.
  • Change Control and Projects: Own and deliver FM / MID Asset Replacement Strategy change controls; complete engineering assessments for minor projects and liaise locally on major projects with CPS and/or the assigned Engineering Project Manager / Global Engineering.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Establish collaborative ways of working, building strong internal customer and supplier relationships to meet organisational goals.
  • Continuous Improvement and Lean Leadership: Integrate Operational Excellence into team responsibilities, applying the Tier Process, Lean tools, techniques and TPM to deliver an optimised Engineering Maintenance Strategy that supports current and future operational goals.
  • Assurance and Audit Readiness: Apply Lean and TPM foundation standards, Gemba, Process Confirmation, self‑inspection and audits to maintain inspection‑ready status.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with Facilities Management leadership and supply partners to develop the campus asset management strategy and 2–5 year implementation plans aligned to the Long Range Operating Plan.
  • Problem Solving and Decision‑Making: Lead and participate in multifunctional teams for process optimisation and investigations; exercise good judgment on complex assignments and deliver clear recommendations.
Essential Skills/Experience
  • Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering subject area or having worked within a regulatory environment.
  • Proven in‑depth level of experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering, formal apprenticeship, or on‑the‑job training.
  • Ability to proactively govern an Outside Services Partner maintenance team, in safe and effective delivery of maintenance, technical investigations for the Maintenance Engineering and Facility plant and production equipment – included but not limited to: Hard services plant and utility equipment including utilities, electrical and steam generation and distribution systems, compressed air and knowledge of GXP systems and practices, facility services, Building Management System (BMS), within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Must have working experience of cGMP and regulatory requirements.
  • With considerable technical knowledge and high level of expertise of the job, you'll have strong mechanical competence and a working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and process systems, with excellent investigative and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work in multi‑functional teams. Excellent organisational skills enable coordinating multiple tasks and delivering timely outcomes to support the business.
  • Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, capable of prioritising engineering activities with timely results to aid the business.
Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Through Continued Professional Development – will have or will be working toward a professional Engineering status i.e. CEng – IET, IMechE etc.
