Job summary

Join our team at Wythenshawe Hospital as a Mechanical Fitter to maintain and repair essential mechanical systems in a busy healthcare environment. You’ll work with heating, chilled, ventilation, and BMS systems, focusing on safety, quality, and technical excellence.

A proactive fault-finding mindset and independent work style are highly valued. We are seeking candidates with an NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering and Building Services, and a willingness to learn through courses.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering and Building Services.
• Willingness to learn and take courses to extend qualifications.
• Experience in healthcare or large sites is advantageous but not essential.
• Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance or fitter role.
• Strong knowledge of heating, ventilation and mechanical systems.
• Confidence diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
• Good working knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and complete dockets for day-to-day tasks.
• Understand Heating, Chilled Systems, Ventilation and BMS in healthcare.
• Install, repair, fault-find and diagnose mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and BMS systems.
• Work safely complying with health and safety regulations; heights awareness.
• Work independently, including on-call duties and driving the company vehicle as required.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and participate in scheduled response systems.

• Maintenance Fitter
• £18.62 per hour
• Additional 20% uplift in pay for shift workers
• 40 Hours Per Week
• Monday to Friday, Shifts are 08:00 to 16:30
• Driving license is desirable
• Location is Wythenshawe Hospital, Southmoor Road, Wythenshawe, M23 9LT

What You’ll Do:

• Responsible for responding to and correctly filling out issued dockets for day to day tasks
• Strong understanding of Heating, Chilled Systems, Ventilation, and BMS Systems within a healthcare environment
• Skilled in installation, repair, fault finding, and diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building energy management systems
• Ability to work safely in compliance with health and safety regulations, including working at heights and using relevant tools and equipment
• Capable of working independently, including on call duties and driving the company vehicle as required
• Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and commitment to health and safety standards
• Proven ability to respond promptly to breakdowns and participate in scheduled response systems

What You Bring:

• NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Mechanical Engineering and Building Services
• Willing to learn and go on courses to add to current qualifications
• Experience in healthcare or large, complex sites is an advantage, but not essential.
