Maintenance Engineer (Shift)

Location: Ballymena

Salary: £50,000 per annum

Hours: 5-week rotating shift pattern (12‑hour shifts, averaging 46 hours per week)

A well‑known food manufacturing company is currently recruiting for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their highly skilled engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a modern, automated environment offering stability, variety, and an attractive total earnings package.

The Role

Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining and optimising production machinery, ensuring reliability and performance across the plant. Working across both mechanical and electrical systems, you'll support continuous improvement initiatives and play a key role in maintaining production uptime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on a variety of automated systems.
  • Quickly and effectively diagnose and resolve machinery breakdowns.
  • Perform equipment upgrades, overhauls, and new installations as required.
  • Monitor and report on utility and equipment performance.
  • Contribute to ongoing process and efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with site H&S and quality standards.
About You
  • Time‑served or formally qualified multi‑skilled engineer (mechanical/electrical).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment is essential.
  • Strong fault‑finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Flexible and committed to working a rotating shift pattern.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills with a proactive approach.
Shift Pattern
  • 5‑week rotating pattern, including both days and nights
  • 12‑hour shifts averaging 46 hours per week
  • Mix of early and night shifts
