Job summary

TXM Recruit is seeking a Maintenance Shift Engineer for a Preston automated distribution site. The role involves maintaining state-of-the-art machinery, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring uptime across day and night rotations.

The candidate should have electro-mechanical qualifications, PLC and NDT familiarity, CMMS experience, and good communication skills. Competitive package and pension are offered.

Qualifications

• NVQ/BTEC/C&G Level 3 in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Familiarity with NDT methods and technologies.
• Knowledge of PLC systems and their functionality.
• Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics is advantageous.
• Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications and CMMS experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical disassembly and reassembly tasks, basic field wiring, equipment calibration, and system testing.
• Efficiently manage time using CMMS, aiming for over 90% utilization.
• Complete reactive repairs within set timeframes to minimize downtime.
• Conduct servicing and repairs of installed products, taking hands-on ownership of issues.
• Interpret electrical schematics and work confidently with 415V motor controls.
• Prioritize health and safety by conducting thorough risk assessments.
• Demonstrate strong mechanical skills and read assembly drawings accurately.
• Follow setup instructions, assembly guides, and checklists with precision.
• Display attention to detail and effective follow-up capabilities.
• Understand and work with control systems; communicate with stakeholders clearly.
