Job summary

Regional Recruitment seeks a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to service and repair a range of automated machinery on-site in Newcastle-under-Lyme. You will read schematics, troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems (Siemens/Allen-Bradley) and perform both planned and breakdown maintenance within a safety-focused environment.

You will replace belts, bearings and other components, ensure safe operation and maintain records of activity, calibrations and handovers as required.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong background in electrical/ mechanical maintenance.
• Knowledge of 16th/17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams.
• Experience working on PLC controlled systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Experience working in a logistical environment.
• Identifying and resolving mechanical or electrical issues quickly to minimise disruption.
• Liaise with Operations Managers, Section Leaders, and Control Room staff to coordinate fault responses and maintenance tasks.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs across automated machinery.
• Diagnose and repair faults in control panels, drives, motors, and PLC-controlled systems.
• Replace belts, chains, bearings, and other components as required.
• Ensure all equipment is maintained safely and stored correctly.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activity, fault resolution, and handovers.
• Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained correctly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with health and safety procedures.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated machinery to minimise disruption.
• Diagnose faults in control panels, drives, motors and PLC systems and implement effective fixes.
• Replace worn components such as belts and bearings and calibrate inspection equipment as required.
• Coordinate fault responses with Operations Managers and Control Room staff and ensure accurate handovers.
