Qualifications

Maintenance Engineer – Night Shift (Havant)

Our client based in the Havant area is looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic team on their night shift.

This position involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair tasks, and contract management, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

This is a 12‑month fixed term contract. The shift pattern is for nights 22:00 – 06:00 Monday to Friday.

Key Accountabilities
  • Preventive Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities for all machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on production equipment promptly to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Technical Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Maintenance departments to coordinate maintenance activities and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all company health and safety regulations, including contributing to health and safety initiatives and activities.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance using the CMMS system.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory, controlling costs within budget.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency and unplanned maintenance issues, providing quick and effective solutions.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and training to production staff on the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience working in manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of injection molding machines.
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with BS EN ISO 14644 cleanroom requirements, BS EN ISO 9001, and cGMP standards.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey technical information clearly.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proven ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including MUDA, 6S, and Kaizen.
  • Analytical: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Technical: Strong mechanical and electrical skills; hydraulic and pneumatics an advantage.
  • Certification: Qualification in Electrical Installation Condition Reporting (EICR) is an advantage; 18th edition BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and apprenticeship status.
  • IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant IT tools.
  • PLC Experience: Good understanding of logic control and programming, Rockwell software preferable.
