Job summary

A leading landscaping products manufacturer in North Shields is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to oversee engineering activities at their site. The successful candidate will ensure high standards of health and safety, support production of protective products, and drive continuous improvements. Ideal applicants will possess relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications, experience in a manufacturing environment, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. Qualifications

  • 17th/18th Edition Certificate holder.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings.

Marshalls Landscape Protection manufactures street furniture designed to promote and protect the safety of shared urban spaces and the people that use them. Our market leading range of products covers everything from bollards, planters, and seating in various materials and are available both crash-tested or non-crash-tested, offering everything required to develop urban areas in terms of both public safety and aesthetic appeal.

Mission

You will be responsible for the prioritisation of all engineering activities across our North Shields site, ensuring that standards for health, safety, environmental, quality, people and performance are delivered on both a personal and team level. You will play a key role in supporting and developing a strategy with the Site Operations Manager to meet and exceed KPIs in all areas by ensuring business objectives are embedded in the site culture, engaging the ‘hearts and minds’ of your colleagues to create and sustain a proactive approach to the prevention of manufacturing equipment failure and downtimes.

In this exciting role, you will play a key role in supporting the production of our extensive range of protective street furniture and counter-terrorism products, so if this gets you excited and you’re an enthusiastic team player with a willingness to succeed and develop new skills, then we want to hear from you!

Mission-critical skills
  • Electrical and / or mechanical qualifications / time served apprenticeship
  • ONC / HNC or equivalent in an engineering related subject
  • Hold 17th / 18th Edition Certificate
  • Experience of operating in a manufacturing environment with relevant safety systems, quality standards, housekeeping standards etc
  • Able to demonstrate the use of data / analytical skills
  • Some experience of continuous improvement/lean manufacturing techniques
  • Experience of fault finding and rectification
  • Able to use initiative when working alone
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Good technical communication skills
  • Can read & understand technical drawings (mechanical & electrical)
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
