Job Overview

I am currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer (Electrically biased) for my manufacturing company based in Bredbury. This role requires a proactive approach to problem‑solving and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The Maintenance Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment. The current salary is £44,072.46 per annum, paid monthly. The shift pattern starts at 05:00 to cover site services until 23:00, rotating weekly across four shifts (05:00‑13:00, 06:00‑14:00, 14:00‑22:00, 15:00‑23:00). Working hours normally exclude night shift or weekends, with overtime at time‑plus‑½. Holiday entitlement is 27 days plus statutory holidays. The role offers an employee pension scheme with a company contribution of up to 7% of salary.

Responsibilities - Maintenance Engineer
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues as they arise.
  • Work with programmable logic controllers to enhance system functionality.
  • Interpret schematics to facilitate repairs and installations.
  • Provide electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and process maintenance cover on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to junior maintenance staff when required.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from other departments.
Qualifications - Maintenance Engineer
  • Time served electrically and have a formal qualification in electrical engineering, preferably an HNC.
  • Proven experience in maintenance engineering, with a strong understanding of mechanical knowledge and electrical experience.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers and the ability to read schematics.
  • Strong customer service skills and effective communication in English.
  • A proactive attitude towards problem‑solving and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
