W Talent are exclusively representing a leading heavy manufacturing company based in Derbyshire, who are looking to recruit a permanent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (or Multiskilled Engineer with a mechanical bias). This long-established business has a proud history of engineering excellence, operating within a demanding and safety-critical production environment. Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on heavy mechanical plant and equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical faults, replace defective parts, and return machinery to service safely and efficiently
  • Support production teams to minimise downtime and optimise equipment performance
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment upgrades
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all work complies with site safety standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with electrical and control engineers when required to resolve complex issues
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety, quality, and environmental policies at all times
Qualifications
  • Time-served Mechanical Engineer (or Multiskilled with a strong mechanical bias)
  • Experience in heavy engineering, manufacturing, or industrial maintenance environments
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes, and pumps
  • A proactive and safety-conscious approach to all maintenance activities
  • Willingness to work both day and night shifts, including weekends, as part of a rotating pattern
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organisational skills
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary: £18.70 per hour + 22% shift premium (approx. £52,190 per annum)
  • Hours: 44 hours per week
  • Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights, including weekends) - full shift pattern available upon request
