A leading food manufacturing company in Burton upon Trent is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their night shift team. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in maintenance engineering with knowledge in a range of plant machinery. The role involves planned and reactive maintenance, and involvement in continuous improvements across the facility. Competitive salary of £53,000, including shift allowance, is offered.

Qualifications

  • Food experience is beneficial but not essential.

Maintenance Engineer
Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire
£53,000 – Inclusive of Shift Allowance
3 on 3 off permanent nights (6pm – 6am)

This company is part of a global organisation that manufactures food products for major retailers such as Subway, McDonalds, Tesco and many more. As a business we have an annual turnover well in excess of £15m and have invested over £60m into our state‑of‑the‑art facility in Burton. We enjoy an incredibly low staff turnover rate within our maintenance team as a result.

We are looking to fill this vacancy as a result of expansion as we transition into a different shift pattern. The successful engineer will be part of a small team of three dedicated night‑shift engineers with a plan for further expansion in the near future.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Planned and reactive maintenance across a wide variety of plant machinery including multivacs, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, relays, inverters, drives, fillers, slicers and much more – near enough anything that you can expect to find within a food manufacturing facility!
  • Involvement in continuous improvements and projects across the site.
  • Adhering to health and safety regulations across the site whilst ensuring OEE is maximised.
The Successful Engineer
  • Multi‑skilled with either a mechanical or electrical bias are encouraged to apply – close to 50:50 as possible is ideal.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a multi‑skilled maintenance engineer within an industrial environment.
  • Food experience is beneficial but not a deal breaker; we have engineers from all backgrounds on our team.
  • Ideally qualified to a minimum of L3 within a maintenance discipline (NVQ/City and Guilds, HNC/D).
