Supporting the Accommodation Maintenance Team at The University of the West England (UWE) you will join a team responsible for the completion of both pre‑planned and reactive remedial repairs and maintenance to the internal and external fabric of a wide variety of assets.
Purpose of the role and expectations
- Responsible for maintaining high quality buildings – carrying out repairs and maintenance, both internal and external, to student accommodation.
- Plan and complete a range of works associated with minor joinery, tiling, drainage, finishes, flooring etc.
- Execute reactive and remedial repairs as directed by the Lancer Scott Helpdesk, including joint work on building fabric systems or any required minor building fabric repairs as experience allows.
- Provide exceptional maintenance services to our high profile client and go the extra mile to deliver the highest quality standards in all areas of performance.
- Use own initiative to solve complicated technical problems associated with reactive maintenance activities, including sourcing parts & materials and seeking manufacturer technical support.
- Carry out all works within agreed timescales and to the highest standards, ensuring compliance with current regulations and contract specifications.
- Follow reporting and recording procedures, including operation and maintenance logs and control measures to minimised risks.
- Utilise PDAs or electronic devices to complete works.
- Liaise closely with our Helpdesk to ensure efficient response to all works, either working on own or as part of a team.
- Observe the highest levels of health and safety at all times, including carrying out point of work risk assessments for every task to ensure best possible working practices are adhered to.
- Deal with a variety of clients on a daily basis, representing the Company and being courteous and professional in all dealings.
Requirements
- NVQ or equivalent in Building Maintenance
- Experience providing a high level of customer service
- A solid understanding of maintenance tasks within Facilities Management or Construction
- Strong communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to plan, organise and complete administrative tasks accurately and on time
- An adaptable team worker keen to get involved

- IT skills – in the use of PDAs
- Asbestos awareness training (UKATA)
