Job summary

Catalent is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for our Swindon site to maintain and improve manufacturing equipment, with a focus on refrigeration storage cabinets and production lines.

In this hands-on role, you will perform planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and implement root cause analyses to maximize plant performance while adhering to health and safety standards. The job is on-site with Monday–Friday shifts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing, production, or engineering.
• Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
• Experience of fault finding, repair, and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose problems and work under pressure.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Our Swindon facility houses our Zydis® fast dissolving tablet development and manufacturing operation as well as a CMC pharmaceutical analytical lab services unit that offers ASAP stability.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will ensure the reliability and efficiency of our equipment through planned and reactive maintenance. You will predominately work on refrigeration storage cabinets, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to minimize downtime. This position is key to maintaining safe operations and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands‑on role. Experience with refrigeration systems would be highly advantageous, particularly within a temperature‑controlled or manufacturing environment.

The Role

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing, production, or engineering environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
• Experience of fault finding, repair, and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose problems and work effectively under pressure.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Background

• Refrigeration experience would be a significant advantage.
• F-Gas qualification or certification would be advantageous.
• Experience working with refrigeration storage cabinets, chillers, freezers, or temperature‑controlled equipment.
• Experience maintaining production and manufacturing machinery.
• Pharmaceutical industry experience would be advantageous.
• Experience working within a regulated or quality‑controlled environment.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice or similar quality standards would be beneficial.
