Job description
Overview

Maintenance Engineer | £45,000 + £3,000 bonus | On-site in Rochdale

Choose your own hours. Own your own patch.

You're the kind of engineer who likes to fix things properly - not just patch them up. But right now, you're probably firefighting more than you'd like, reacting to breakdowns without the time or space to prevent them.

This job is different. It's a solo Maintenance Engineer role in a growing injection moulding business where you'll have autonomy to put proper processes in place. Planned and preventative maintenance is the goal, and you'll have the chance to build that structure from the ground up.

Yes, you'll get your hands dirty. This is a hands-on role, looking after ageing machinery that needs attention and investment. But you won't be alone in terms of support: you'll work closely with setters and operators who know how the machines should run, and you'll have access to manufacturers for technical advice when needed.

You'll report to the Production Manager and sit alongside the informal leadership team. It's a small business - around 60 people - with a flat structure and an owner-MD who's in the thick of it. The culture is practical, no-nonsense and focused on making things better, not just bigger.

What you'll need
  • Electrical bias (17th/18th edition), with fault-finding and ladder logic experience
  • Mechanical know-how too (pneumatics/hydraulics), and not afraid to get stuck in
  • Happy working solo and influencing production teams to prioritise maintenance
  • Any moulding/plastics experience is a bonus, not a must
What's in it for you
  • £45,000 salary + guaranteed £3,000 bonus (for on-call/overtime flexibility)
  • Flex your hours: choose your start and finish to suit you
  • Freedom to shape how maintenance is done, not just follow what's already there
  • Be part of the leadership conversations, not just a name on a rota
