Job Description: We are seeking an on‑site Wintel Engineer to provide support for a key public sector client. This high‑impact role operates in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment focused on support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Requirements: Successful applicants must be eligible for a high‑level UK Security clearance and DV. The role demands a flexible working ethic, pragmatic approach to IT support, and a background in second/third‑line support. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential, as is a keen interest in innovation and automation.
Description of Role: Responsible for delivery of assigned tasks within the project delivery cycle. Utilises a broad spectrum of the company's technology, Windows OS, VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V servers, and performs design, installation, updates, firmware, driver updates, configuration, and testing. Works independently and with customer‑named representatives. Contributes to design for deliverables and assists in developing technical solutions. Maintains good relationships with team members, DXC internal teams, and customers.
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Professional‑level certification(s) in the work field. Typically 5‑10 years of relevant experience.
Essential Knowledge & Skills: Windows Server 2003‑2022, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Windows PKI, DFS, VMware vSphere and ESXi, Veritas Clustering, Microsoft Clustering. Great customer service. Good understanding of networks and domain structure.
Desirable Skills & Certifications: Any Microsoft/Citrix/VMWare certification; wider understanding of client or mid‑range OSes, networking, and security; PowerShell scripting; McAfee, HP Blade System, HP Cloud Service Automation, HP Server Automation, Symantec Datacentre Security, or similar.
