Job summary

The Boden Group is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to operate across Peterborough and Boston hospital sites, delivering planned and reactive maintenance to ensure safe operations. You will coordinate external contractors and manage permits for high-risk tasks.

You’ll contribute to Legionella control, fire safety and health and safety audits while reviewing fault logs and allocating resources. Full-time and part-time options are available with one-week-in-three on-call.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Part 3, HNC, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Experience in maintenance engineering and fault-finding.
• Understanding of Legionella prevention requirements in hospital buildings.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organisational and time-management skills for competing priorities.
• Ideally, AP/MGPS medical gases or AP/D decontamination qualifications.
• Ideally, IOSH health and safety or risk assessment training, or L8/ACOP Legionella training.
• Knowledge of air handling units would be advantageous.

Job description

As a Maintenance Engineer in Peterborough and Boston, you'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance across hospital sites. The role supports both existing hospitals and a new hospital development, with responsibility for safe operations and coordinating specialist contractors.

The Role

As the Maintenance Engineer, you'll:

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works to support legal compliance.
• Provide engineering maintenance and breakdown support across hospital sites.
• Coordinate external contractors when reactive issues require specialist attention.
• Identify safety risks and manage permits to work for high-risk activities.
• Support Legionella, fire safety and health and safety audits and assessments.
• Review fault logs and allocate resources to maintenance tasks.

About You

• City & Guilds Part 3, HNC, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent, preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering.
