Job description

Position: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Newmarket
Salary: £45,000 per year
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our client’s team in Newmarket. This is a hands‑on role where you will carry out maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out inspections, maintenance, and repairs on equipment such as HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, and generators.
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Perform planned preventive maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly.
  • Respond to emergency repair requests and minimise downtime.
  • Work with contractors on repairs, installations, and upgrades.
  • Keep accurate records of work completed and equipment serviced.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are always followed.
  • Support projects such as equipment upgrades and system improvements.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to colleagues when required.
Skills & Experience Required
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (e.g., ONC, BTEC Level 3).
  • Previous experience in a mechanical/electrical role, ideally in facilities management or estate maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and general building systems.
  • Confident in diagnosing and resolving both mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
