Job description
Deputy Team Leader – Maintenance

As the Deputy Team Leader, you will work within the Maintenance Team and report to the Maintenance Team Leader (TL), supporting the daily operation of a team of 10‑15 multi-skilled technicians. The role is split between conducting preventative and reactive maintenance tasks alongside your team and supervising the daily activities of the team to ensure the effective, timely provision of quality services. The remainder of the time is spent undertaking leadership responsibilities as directed in support of the Team Leader, including developing and mentoring team members to maximise the efficient use of available resources. Responsibilities
  • Be jointly responsible with the Team Leader for the EHS performance of the team and their safe operating practices, contributing to investigations and reporting of near‑misses and incidents with the aim of preventing reoccurrence.
  • Ensure delivery and adherence to the maintenance plan and associated priorities, ensuring that the maintenance team delivers the required maintenance input to maximise plant production output with effective deployment of appropriate resources.
  • Liaise with Production to minimise downtime of the plant by timely reporting of issues and coordinating responses using the CMMS system.
  • Triage CMMS work requests to ensure adherence and alignment from all requestors, approving or denying requests as required.
  • Enter the team's comments in CMMS, extracting as much detail as possible for the job card and reviewing the team's booked hours daily.
  • Drive lean initiatives in the department, ensuring all 5S checks and housekeeping tasks are completed and initiating and supporting continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications
  • Formal qualification in Engineering such as HNC/HND or equivalent recognised training.
  • Lean qualification or demonstrable experience of lean principles and methods.
  • Demonstrable understanding of EHS management principles.
  • Experience of working with performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience of supervising or managing small teams.
  • Desirable: technical plant experience.
