Job description

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer at our Milton Keynes tray wash facility. Ralph Coleman International are part of the IFCO group who are a leading company in tray washing for the retail supermarkets. The company is currently undergoing a major multi million pound investment program for the implementation of new equipment and automation starting in January 2026.

The role will be accountable and responsible for the throughput and maintenance of the tray washing process machinery. Ensure its full and reliable production capability and the monitoring of CCPs for the wash process. Problem solving, continuous improvement and preventative maintenance schedules are a key requirement to this role.

The role requires you to work on your own initiative covering a 12-hour shift from 6 to 6 on rotating days and nights.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure efficient running of the tray washing process and equipment, limiting unplanned downtime as the core responsibility.
  • Be accountable and responsible for the condition and reliability of the production equipment, ensuring that equipment performs its function in a safe manner (all guards in place etc).
  • Identify potential issues before they happen and have the skills to rectify or avoid unplanned stoppages. Make short-term fixes where necessary and then plan long-term fixes.
  • Maintain a high quality of work, testing and checking after work is completed to avoid repeated returns to the same issue.
  • Work with a minimum of supervision, having the skills to rectify issues as required.
  • Use foresight to see continuous improvement opportunities within the process.
  • Record and monitor quality process parameters; required levels are clearly defined (TF024). Monitoring and reporting of these parameters and any issues are paramount to our quality commitments.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance correctly and maintain records accordingly.
  • Work with all the maintenance team, passing over all information of any issues to other shifts.
  • Work with the machine minder, ensuring communication between engineering and operations.

Preferred applicants should have a qualification in electrical engineering with a time-served apprenticeship and 5 years experience in an automation environment.
