Proactive Global is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to maintain automated lifting and material handling equipment. You will service and repair hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems to keep the operation safe and reliable in a busy environment.

The role requires strong mechanical expertise, reading drawings, and a valid UK driving licence, with a permanent, long-term career path and opportunities for technical development.

Formación

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical/Maintenance Engineering.
• Proven experience in mechanical or multi-skilled maintenance within industrial/manufacturing/ automated environments.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with lifting equipment, hydraulic systems or automated material handling systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out planned preventive and reactive maintenance on automated lifting and material handling equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
• Maintain lifting platforms, hoists, conveyors, motors, gearboxes and related systems.
• Investigate breakdowns, identify root causes and implement repairs.
• Inspect, adjust and replace components; work with sensors, control panels and safety interlocks.

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a specialist engineering team responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing automated lifting and material handling equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong mechanical background and experience working with industrial lifting systems, automated machinery, hydraulic systems or electromechanical equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably within a busy, high-demand environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on automated lifting and material handling equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
• Maintain and service lifting platforms, hoists, conveyors, motors, gearboxes and associated mechanical systems.
• Investigate equipment breakdowns, identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
• Inspect, adjust and replace mechanical components, including bearings, chains, drives, motors and transmission systems.
• Work with sensors, limit switches, control panels and safety interlock systems.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety procedures.
• Assist with equipment installations, commissioning and modifications where required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete relevant technical documentation.
• Work closely with the wider engineering team to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Essential Requirements

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in mechanical or multi-skilled maintenance within an industrial, manufacturing or automated environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience working with lifting equipment, hoists, hydraulic systems, industrial machinery or automated material handling systems.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.

Desirable Experience

• Industrial lifting equipment, goods lifts, scissor lifts or automated lifting platforms.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Motors, gearboxes, chains, bearings and mechanical drive systems.
• Automated warehouse or material handling equipment.
• Electrical fault finding and basic PLC diagnostics.
• Experience working in logistics, manufacturing or industrial facilities.
• Previous conveyor experience is not essential, provided candidates have strong transferable mechanical maintenance experience.
